Charleston, IL Plant Relocation
February 13, 2012
Long‐time area employer and community member, Lester Building Systems, is moving … across the street. The major supplier of post‐frame buildings has purchased the vacant building at 750 West State Street in Charleston, IL. (a site formerly owned by Wausau Homes).
Since 1991, Lester has operated its regional manufacturing from 10 separate buildings at 890 West State Street in Charleston. The new location offers approximately the same square footage, but will consolidate Lester’s operations under one roof, improving workflow efficiency.
John Hill, president of Lester Building Systems, credits the Charleston workforce for playing a big role in keeping the financially strong company local.
“We’re committed to the Charleston community and our local workforce. They’re dedicated, hard‐working, and we value the daily contributions they make to our business.”
The facility, one of three in the U.S., employs about 40 people. All will move to the new location by mid‐April, 2012. The company expects the move to boost the local economy in the coming year with additional hires, new equipment and site improvements.
