Archie, MO, Business Helps with National 9/11 Commemoration

SL Construction & Lester Buildings Join Forces to Help Rebuild Oklahoma Non-Profit Sept. 4 – 7, 2014

Tornados can have devastating consequences. But the tornado that struck Central Oklahoma on May 19, 2013, was no match for the good deeds that followed. That includes the generous donation of time, travel and energy by Matt Johnson who operates SL Construction of Archie, MO, a Lester Buildings dealer.
 
In early September, Matt will see nearly 100 hours of his volunteer time come to fruition. After six months of building planning and design, he will spend a week helping over 300 volunteers from New York City and around the U.S. rebuild 1 Day Ranch near Bethel Acres, OK. The animal rescue, therapy and education center’s lone old barn was destroyed by high winds during the tornado.
 
The Ranch’s rebuild was selected as the 2014 main project of New York Says Thank You Foundation (NYSTY), an organization started after 9/11 to help rebuild communities after disasters. SL Construction’s founder Bob Lotspeich (he passed away in May 2013) had been an active volunteer with NYSTY for many years. He encouraged Lester Buildings to offer discounted building materials, which the company has done for NYSTY projects since 2008.
 
“This is Matt’s first year volunteering with NYSTY and he’s been incredibly generous. We feel like proud parents who want to brag a bit,” said Stephanie Beste, Lester Buildings’ Brand Manager. She adds that Matt’s deeds are especially notable; he and his wife became new parents in May.
 
When completed after the Sept. 4 – 7 barn raising, 1 Day Ranch will have a new Lester Buildings 10-stall horse barn with community classroom, dog kennel building, two run-in horse shelters, outdoor riding arena and new fencing.
